Aloe Ferox Out of Africa.
Be Beautiful. Stay Beautiful.
Not Available on the High Street.

That might sound like quite a bold claim, but it’s true when you look at the potency of its bitter sap. Here’s why.

A freshly cut Aloe Ferox leaf produces about 20 times more bitter sap, by weight, than Aloe Vera. It’s this bitter sap that holds the plant’s concentrated medicinal properties. More on that below!

If you’re familiar with how Aloe Vera helps with skin conditions, boosting vitality, then you’ll love Aloe Ferox. It’s a lesser-known but incredibly powerful ‘cousin’ of Aloe Vera, and it offers even more benefits.

Aloe Ferox is native to the Albertinia region of South Africa and is often referred to as Cape Aloe. Unlike Aloe Vera, it’s not widely available, which makes it feel a bit more special and valuable. Its Latin name, ‘Aloe Ferox,’ translates to ‘Wild Aloe,’ and true to its name, it grows wild in its natural environment. These plants aren’t farmed or treated with chemicals like fertilisers or pesticides – they grow completely organically.

Why Aloe Ferox is the better choice over Aloe Vera.

  • Cold-pressed: No heat is used in the extraction process, meaning the plant’s natural botanicals stay intact.
  • Free-range harvesting: Aloe Ferox is harvested carefully, allowing the plants to regenerate and thrive for future generations – especially important since these plants can live for up to 50 years!
  • No filtering: Unlike Aloe Vera, Aloe Ferox never needs to be filtered, which means all the active plant chemicals are retained.
  • An older plant genesis: Aloe Ferox is actually the predecessor of Aloe Vera – a more ancient, wild relative.
  • Higher protein content: Aloe Ferox has nearly double the amount of amino acids (proteins) compared to Aloe Vera.
  • Rich in minerals: It also contains significantly more iron and calcium than Aloe Vera.
  • Longer-lasting juice: After extraction, the juice from Aloe Vera tends to lose its colour and viscosity quickly, whereas Aloe Ferox juice holds up much better.
  • Higher solids content: Aloe Ferox juice consistently has a higher volume of solid material than Aloe Vera.
  • Thicker gel: Aloe Vera’s inner gel is softer and more translucent, with a more mucinous (slimy) texture – not ideal!

What makes the bitter sap so special?

The bitter sap of Aloe Ferox is where the magic happens. It has a range of medicinal properties:

  • It’s a powerful laxative, stimulating peristalsis, (the need to “go to the loo”) which helps relieve constipation.
  • It assists the liver in eliminating toxins.
  • In small doses, it aids digestion by stimulating gastric juices and helps with absorption in the gut.
  • Bitters are a potent antibacterial and antiviral agent. Very useful when relieving the symptoms of; peptic ulcers, urinary infections, gastroenteritis, herpes, and even flu viruses.

The popular Aloe Ferox Whole-leaf Aloe Juice, as the name suggests, contains the whole leaf of the Aloe Ferox plant. This juice provides all the benefits we’ve mentioned, including higher amounts of bitter, amino acids, iron, and calcium compared to Aloe Vera juices.
